This paper examines the experiences of young novice drivers and their parents who frequently drive across jurisdictional borders. Young novice drivers are overrepresented in vehicle crashes and resulting fatality statistics. Deterrence theory is the framework traditionally used to underpin road policing practices. However, there have been several developments in deterrence theory. Alcohol- and drug-impaired e-scooter riding
This article explores the emerging problem of drug- and alcohol-impaired e-scooter riding. Fifteen government and e-scooter hire firm professionals from four jurisdictions (Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, Norway) described and assessed countermeasures designed to deter drug- and alcohol-impaired riding. Distracted driving is a leading contributor to road crashes. Distractions can be caused by devices integrated within the vehicle itself or mobile phones. Multi-agency policing partnerships provide agencies with the opportunity to address underlying social issues that contribute to crime and allow for longer-term solutions. One partnership model is third-party policing (TPP).
