  • The Reality of the Invisible

    Open Access•Rose Miron•ARTICLE•Religions•2025•Referências: 20

This article aims to establish the theoretical foundations for a phenomenology of the invisible, conceived as an ontologically primary dimension of reality. It draws on the work of the realist phenomenologist Hedwig Conrad-Martius (1888-1966) and situates the discussion within the methodological framework of Husserl's phenomenology-as developed by members of the Munich-Göttingen Circle, of which Conrad-Martius was one of the leading figures, and …

  • Archaeology and Social Justice in Native America

Over the past 20 years, collaboration has become an essential aspect of archaeological practice in North America. In paying increased attention to the voices of descendant and local communities, archaeologists have become aware of the persistent injustices these often marginalized groups face. Building on growing calls for a responsive and engaged cultural heritage praxis, this forum article brings together a group of Native and non-Native schola…

Rose Miron, Miron et al.•ARTICLE•Native American and Indigenous…•2018

Fighting for the Tribal Bible:Mohican Politics of Self-Representation in Public History Rose Miron (bio) in 1951 Jim and Grace Davids traveled from Wisconsin to the East Coast of the United States to see the homelands of their ancestors. Jim was an enrolled member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans,1 while Grace was from the nearby Oneida reservation.2 On their trip, they stopped in Stock-bridge, Massachusetts, where Jim's ancestors, the …

  • Faith and Radicalism

Rose Miron, Ronny Miron•ARTICLE•Review of Rabbinic Judaism•2016

This paper confronts Edith Stein’s Christian idea of faith with the Jewish one of Yeshayahu Leibowitz. The discussion begins by uncovering the common starting point of the two thinkers, which anchors religious faith in one’s volitional decision. Yet this commonality appears to be violated by essential differences between their understandings of the religious experience. Delving into the differences between Stein’s and Leibowitz’s idea of faith de…

  • Husserl and Other Phenomenologists

Rose Miron, Ronny Miron•ARTICLE•The European Legacy•2016

This article addresses a basic question: what elements in Husserl’s phenomenology can account for the variety of post-Husserlian phenomenologies? The answer, I suggest, is that Husserl’s idea of reality, particularly his notion of givenness vis-à-vis self-givenness, facilitated the work of his followers by offering them at once a firm ground and a point of departure for their inquiries. However, adopting Husserl’s phenomenology as their starting …

  • The Mystics of the Historical Truth

Rose Miron, Ronny Miron•ARTICLE•Review of Rabbinic Judaism•2015

Gerschom Scholem’s perception of metaphysical truth as a law of historical reality stood behind his study of the Kabbalah. The uncovering of this truth and deciphering of the mark it leaves upon historical reality, he believed, served as the main tools in the anchoring of the Kabbalah as part of the continuity of Jewish history. The effort involved in revealing the truth seems to be an outcome of its containing hidden dimensions. Despite its meta…

  • The Secret of Jewish Existence

Rose Miron, Ronny Miron•ARTICLE•Review of Rabbinic Judaism•2014

The issue of historical continuity has been of great interest to Jewish historians and intellectuals from the establishing of the Wissenschaft des Judentums at the beginning of the nineteenth century until our time. In the era of secularization, religious practice and the very identification as a Jew turned out to be a volitional choice of individuals. Therefore, the modern coping with the question “to be or not to be a Jew” necessitated a radica…
