Reducing the Biological and Psychological Toxicity of Poverty‐related Stress
This proof‐of‐concept study tests the initial efficacy of the Building a Strong Identity and Coping Skills (Ba SICS ) intervention, a selective prevention of internalizing problems program for early adolescents exposed to high levels of poverty‐related stress. What Makes Rock Music “Prog”? Fan Evaluation and the Struggle to Define Progressive Rock
In this article I demonstrate how fan-written reviews of symphonic and neo-progressive rock albums reflect and project a discursive struggle over what makes rock music "prog." I use ethnographic content analysis of online reviews to examine how fan evaluations of progressive rock albums defend or challenge the inclusion of neo-progressive albums in the progressive rock canon. Coping with Terrorism
This study examined age and gender differences and similarities in stress responses to September 11th. Adolescents, young adults, and adults reported using a variety of strategies to cope with the terrorist attacks including acceptance, positive thinking, and emotional expression. In addition, involuntary stress responses such as physio-logical arousal, rumination, and emotional numbing were common. A number of age trends emerged, showing increas…

Deregulation and ownership concentration have been accompanied by increased rationalization of programming strategies in commercial music radio in many industrial nations.
