The contribution of social environment to the development of premature children
In an anterospective study of development of premature children of low social class, it was found that a greater degree of deprivation in the mother was associated with increased possibility of neurological abnormality in the child. At age two-and-a-half the child's developmental score reflected neurological impairment rather than social experience. A voluntary program for the treatment of heroin addicts at a municipal, general hospital is described.
