Drawing upon cross-national data collected by the International Social Survey Program (ISSP) across 26 nations and over 28,000 individuals, this study explores the association between climate skepticism and populism, both in general, and amidst varying degrees of globalization. Stereotypical Gender Associations in Language Have Decreased Over Time
Using a corpus of millions of digitized books, we document the presence and trajectory over time of stereotypical gender associations in the written English language from 1800 to 2000. We employ the novel methodology of word embeddings to quantify male gender bias: the tendency to associate a domain with the male gender. My Grandmother
On June 28, 1950, soldiers executed a woman in a field just outside of Seoul, Korea. Presumably they buried her body on the site. Her grave, however, bears no marker. In the fifty years since her execution, the city expanded, encompassing the field and her grave. Today, some of Seoul's poorest people reside in small apartments in that field.
