The Function and Signification of Certain Navaho Particles
Although Article 6 of the Navajo Treaty of 1868 committed the federal ernment to provide educational facilities for “every thirty children between ages of six and sixteen) who could be induced or compelled to attend sd interest on the part of tribal members was understandably low at the time funds were lacking. As a result, nearly a century passed before school oppo1 ties became universally available to the tribe.
Cainozoic heritage in the modern landscape near Bungonia, southern New South Wales
The regional topography of much of the New South Wales Southern Highlands was long attributed to Quaternary erosion, but it has been recently demonstrated that the region was, in fact, well developed by the Eocene. The hillsides at Inverary Park are mantled by the Late‐Eocene Reevesdale Basalt, thus indicating the extent of landscape development by the mid‐Tertiary. Comparative Uranium-Thorium and Thermoluminescence Dating of Weathered Quaternary Alluvium in the Tropics of Northern Australia
Thermoluminescence (TL) age determinations of alluvial sediments in the tropics are evaluated by comparison with U/Th age determinations of pedogenic accumulations in the alluvium of the lower Gilbert River, a large fan delta in the wet-dry tropics of northern Queensland, Australia. This study extends U/Th dating by applying it not only to calcretes, but also to Fe/Mn oxyhydroxide/oxide accumulations. While a direct correlation cannot be made bet…
