Factor Analysis of the Stewart Personality Inventory Research Form and Its Correlations With Some Other Personality Instruments
The 80-item Stewart Personality Inventory (SPI) has 8 sub-scales; Orderliness, Future orientation, Extraversion, Self-concept, Autonomy, Risk-taking, Nurturance and Scientific practicality. The inventory and scoring methods are summarised. A factor analysis yielded a very similar factor structure to that of an earlier study, despite different factor methods and cultural settings for the studies. Factor Analysis of the Machiavellian Scale
The paper is a report of a factor analytical study of the Christie and Gies Machiavellian Scale. Subjects were 122 part-time and full-time students from Laurentian University, Canada. Principal components analysis and varimax rotation revealed five psychologically interpretable factors with, latent roots above 1.0. Beliefs About Human Nature Held by Adolescents in Fiji
Beliefs in overall trustworthiness and complexity of others were investigated in 121 adolescents (mean age 14.7 years) from schools in the Suva-Nausori area of Fiji. Using a 15-item version of Wrightsman's Children's Philosophies of Human Nature scale, it was shown (p < 0.01) that females had a higher level of belief in the trustworthiness of people. To investigate further the basic item-factor structure of the Junior Eysenck Personality Inventory, a principal components analysis and varimax rotation were conducted on responses of 866 children (aged 7 to 16 yr.) from schools in the Rotorua area of New Zealand. This study focuses on reported (a) satisfaction in stages of the life cycle; (b) levels of general happiness; and (c) frequency of peak experiences. Food-deprived male rats were placed in conflict by pairing shock and feeding. They were trained in a runway which varied in length for different groups. Stabilimeter scores indicated that runway length during training had persisting effects on activity levels.
