Preparing educational leaders through action research
This article explores the development, structure, and continuous improvement model of an Action Research education doctorate program research methodology course sequence. The aim of the study is to articulate a rigorous Action Research methodology course sequence and the collaborative faculty process utilized to create and continuously improve upon the research curriculum. The doctoral program under study utilizes a qualitative-dominant Action Re…
Cervical Visual Inspection With Acetic Acid (Via) and Oncogenic Human Papillomavirus Screening in Rural Indigenous Guatemalan Women
Single-visit "screen-and-treat" strategies using visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) and cryotherapy (liquid nitrous oxide ablation) in low-resource settings are commonly used to detect and treat precancerous lesions for cervical cancer prevention. This study compared VIA sensitivity and specificity in rural indigenous Guatemalan communities, to that of oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) testing for detection of precancerous changes, using…
Using self-collection HPV testing to increase engagement in cervical cancer screening programs in rural Guatemala
Participation in self-collection HPV testing campaigns may increase likelihood of involvement in screening programs. However, results varied between communities, and reporting of screening histories was inconsistent. Future work should identify what community-specific factors promote success in HPV testing programs and focus on improving education on existing cervical cancer interventions
Next Generation Sequencing Reveals High Prevalence of BRCA1 and BRCA2 Variants of Unknown Significance in Early-Onset Breast Cancer in African American Women
Knowing a patient's BRCA mutation status is important for prevention and treatment decision-making. Improving the characterization of mutations will lead to better management, treatment, and BCa prevention efforts in African Americans who are disproportionately affected with aggressive BCa and may inform future precision medicine genomic-based clinical studies
Using Film Cutting Techniques in Interface Design
It has been suggested that computer interfaces could be made more usable if their designers utilized cinematography techniques, which have evolved to guide the viewer through a narrative despite frequent discontinuities in the presented scene (i.e., cuts between shots). Because of differences between the domains of film and interface design, it is not straightforward to understand how such techniques can be transferred. May and Barnard (1995) arg…

Repetition priming of homographs and novel objects
Two experiments examined the nature of the memory representations underlying repetition priming. In Expt 1, homographs (words with two meanings) were presented accompanied by bias words that demanded one particular interpretation of each. These homographs were then used in a test phase picture‐word matching task. Repeated items accompanied by a picture that demanded another interpretation of the word showed as much facilitation as repeated items …

The Learner Centred Approach
Writers of textbooks published since the beginning of 1978 are invited to submit 1000 word articles discussing the principles underlying their work and accompanied by two pages from the book in question. The articles should be problem‐based, not advertisements, and the extracts should be in a form for reproduction without redrawing. Writers will be responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions
