  • The Representation of Sustainable Future Landscapes in Danish TV-commercials

    Open Access•Gregers Andersen, Mette Marie Roslyng•ARTICLE•Environmental Communication•2026

This article explores how two Danish food and energy companies represent sustainable future landscapes in televized commercials in response to aesthetic conflicts that form part of a wider sensual transition. Using a multimodal discourse analysis of five commercials (2019–2025), the study examines how Arla and Andel Energi discursively construct the Danish landscape as a site where nature and technology converge. The commercials mobilize sensory …

  • The Cinematic Anthropocene and the Future Politics of Killing

    Open Access•Gregers Andersen•ARTICLE•Film-Philosophy•2022

This article considers two films, Elysium (Neil Bloomkamp, 2013) and What Happened to Monday (Tommy Wirkola, 2017), in order to demonstrate that they foreshadow a paradigmatic shift in the relationship between biopolitics and thanatopolitics. According to Michel Foucault, and later Giorgio Agamben and Roberto Esposito, it is chiefly the association of humans with biological danger that causes biopolitics to mutate into thanatopolitics. However, i…

  • Imagining and co-creating futures of sustainable consumption and society

Charlotte Louise Jensen, Frederikke Oldin et al.•ARTICLE•Consumption and Society•2022•Referências: 14

With the increasing pressure on the climate from human activities, it is urgent to envision and facilitate radically different ways of life that allow for significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions. This only happens if policy and action initiatives go beyond discursive practices that treat climate change mitigation as a matter of technological fixes, and individual behavioural change. Decades of research on the sociology of consumption show th…

  • The Cruel Optimism of Anthropocene Technologies

Open Access•Esben Bjerggaard Nielsen, Gregers Andersen•ARTICLE•The Journal of Popular Culture•2022•Referências: 1

cally altered humanity's relationship with technology. The detonations of the atomic bomb over Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 constituted one such point, leaving the human species with a new sense of common frailty. 1 Since then, the evolution of technology has initiated many other turning points that have shaped the multiple ways in which humans relate to technology.Yet, very few of these turning points have created the kind of shared sense of fr…

  • Desperate science fiction

    Open Access•Gregers Andersen•ARTICLE•Renaissance and Modern Studies•2022•Citada por: 2•Referências: 2

With the early 2020s fostering an array of intensified climate-driven catastrophes, a key question is how humanity will respond to its impending transgressions of climatic and ecosystemic tipping points. In this light, this article explores how some of the world's richest entrepreneurs and companies resort to desperate science fiction, that is, to increasingly drastic techno-optimistic ventures. More precisely, the article zooms in on plans put f…

• Climate Fiction and Cultural Analysis

    Gregers Andersen•BOOK•Climate Fiction and Cultural…•2019

"Climate Fiction and Cultural Analysis argues that the popularity of the term "climate fiction" has paradoxically exhausted the term's descriptive power and developed into a black box containing all kinds of fictions which depict climatic events and consequently lost its true significance. Aware of the prospect of ecological collapse as well as our apparently inability to avert it, we face geophysical changes of drastic proportions that severely …

  • Guattari and Planetary Computerisation

    Open Access•Gregers Andersen•ARTICLE•Deleuze Studies•2016

This essay frames the Anthropocene as ‘the age of planetary computerisation’. It claims that this term bestows Guattari's thinking with a critical ability to both grasp and challenge the present as an age in which the personal computer not only further empowers Integrated World Capitalism, but also appears as a geological force, that is, as one of the main drivers of the ecological devastation that now confronts humanity. At the same time the ess…

Greening the Sphere:Towards an Eco-Ethics for the Local and Artificial Gregers Andersen (bio) Today we can build space stations about two-hundred kilometers above the earth and so we already have a strong impression of operating in an anti-world milieu. Everything human beings need up there they have to take along with them, including the air they want to breathe.... This life-in-capsules has something trend-setting about it. In my view, the thir…
