  • Dog Consumption at Tell Zirāʿa

    Open Access•Katja Soennecken, Haskel J Greenfield•ARTICLE•Humans•2024•Referências: 28

It has been argued that the increase in the consumption of dogs in the southern Levant during the Iron Age was due to the advent of the Philistines/“Sea Peoples” into the region. In this study, we test this proposal through the presentation of new information on dog consumption and its depositional context in Bronze and Iron Age strata from the archaeological site of Tell Zirāʿa (Jordan), and we compare the results to other sites in the region. • Dating and provenance of glass artefacts excavated from the ancient city of Tall Zirā‛a, Jordan

    Open Access•Victoria Kemp, K Schmidt et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2020•Citada por: 1•Referências: 24

Fourteen glass objects recovered from excavations at the ancient city of Tall Zirā‛a, Jordan, were analysed using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA‐ICP‐MS) to determine the period and origin of manufacture. The composition of glasses manufactured in the Late Bronze Age (LBA) and Iron Age are distinctly different, therefore major element analysis can be used to distinguish between the groups relatively easily. The LA‐…

  • In Search for Aram and Israel

Katja Soennecken, Dieter Vieweger et al.•BOOK•In Search for Aram and Israel•2016

The authors of this volume address the interactions between the Aramaean kingdoms and the Israelite Northern Kingdom during the Early Iron Age (12th-8th century BCE) focusing on archaeology and material culture vis-à-vis textual sources and historical memory.
