Burial inventory as Marker of Gender-Age and Social Stratification in Population of the Kurai Basin (Based on Excavations at the Kuraika Cemetery, Altai Mountains)
Archaeological excavations at the Kuraika burial ground of the Bulan-Kobin culture, III–V centuries A.D. Periodization of bronze age cultures in the ob–irtysh forest-steppe
The paper presents archaeological materials recovered from the Tartas-1 burial ground in 2010. The limited area of Tartas-1 contains burials, the stratigraphic position of which makes it possible to establish a periodization of Early and Middle Bronze Age cultures in the Baraba forest-steppe. The paper describes burials attributed to the Ust-Tartas, Odino, Krotovo, and Late Krotovo cultures

In the 9th – 7th cent. BC, during the transition from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age, a large fortifi ed settlement existed at Chicha, in the Baraba forest-steppe. New features of social organization are evidenced by burials of infants in dwellings. In this article, reasons behind the choice of infants buried are addressed. Results of sex chromosomes DNA analysis indicate that most infants buried in dwellings were boys. The presence of different …
