Motivating and demotivating factors for Chinese as a foreign language learners in a British CLIL program
This study investigates Mandarin Chinese learners’ motivation in a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) program in a British secondary school from the perspective of learning environment, learner engagement, and learner identities. Holocene stalagmite δ 18 O records in the East Asian monsoon region and their correlation with those in the Indian monsoon region
We compare well-dated Holocene stalagmite δ 18 O records from the East Asian Summer Monsoon (EASM) region and from the Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) region. We found that the pattern of latitudinal change of speleothem δ 18 O values from the Indian monsoon region to the East Asian monsoon region is almost identical to that of modern precipitation. A high-resolution record of Holocene environmental and climatic changes from Lake Balikun (Xinjiang, China)
A high-resolution record of Holocene environmental and climatic change in the Balikun area was reconstructed from a sediment core from the Lake Balikun. Multiproxy data show that the climate was extremely arid during the early Holocene (before 8.6 cal. ka BP). Moisture began to increase after 8.6 cal. ka BP and the climate was humid between 7.9 and 4.3 cal. ka BP. A significant dry event occurred around 4.3–3.8 cal. ka BP. The climate became gene…
