Long working hours and health in Denmark
These results suggest that, from a societal perspective, the effect of wwh on the rates of these types of morbidity is negligible throughout the interval 32-64 wwh
Fixed-term contract positions, unemployment and mental ill health
International Registered Report Identifier (IRRID): DERR2-10.2196/24392
Do baseline industry and job group skill level predict welfare dependency at 1, 3 and 5 years after mental health related sickness absence? A Danish cohort study
The present study does not support that industry and job group skill level predict welfare dependency after health related sickness absence, after adjustment for relevant covariates, in the general population of Denmark. It suggests, however, that the vulnerability lies in population groups characterized by unemployment, older age, being single and being on sick leave due to self-reported anxiety or depression versus stress/burnout
Surveillance of Hospital Contacts among Danish Seafarers and Fishermen with Focus on Skin and Infectious Diseases—A Population-Based Cohort Study
Surveillance of seamen's health gives useful information. The elevated SHCR for HIV infection among non-officers has not declined despite preventive information campaigns. Tuberculosis among fishermen may be due to infection on shore. Skin diseases had very high SHCRs, not due to cutaneous oil exposure
Testing the association between psychosocial job strain and adverse birth outcomes - design and methods
The prospective nature of the design and the high number of participants strengthen the study. The large statistical power allows for interpretable results regardless of whether or not the hypotheses are confirmed. This is, however, not a controlled study since all kinds of 'natural' interventions takes place throughout pregnancy (e.g. work absence, medical treatment and job-redesign). The analysis will be performed from a public health perspecti…
Study protocol to a nationwide prospective cohort study on return to gainful occupation after stroke in Denmark 1996 - 2006
Since our follow-up is done through registers and all people in the target population are included, the study is free from sampling bias, recall bias and non-response bias. The study is also strengthened by its size. The major weakness of the study is that it does not contain any stroke severity measures. Thus, it cannot accurately predict whether a particular stroke patient will in fact return to work. The study is, however, quite useful from a …
Social inequalities in injury occurrence and in disability retirement attributable to injuries
The social inequality in injury related disability retirement lies only to some degree in the differences in the injury risk. More important are differences in the consequences of an injury. This was especially pronounced among the women

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this article is to present the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ), a questionnaire developed in three different lengths for assessing psychosocial factors at work, stress, and the well-being of employees and some personality factors. The purpose of the COPSOQ concept is to improve and facilitate research, as well as practical interventions at workplaces. METHODS: The development of the questionnaire was based on…
Manhood Trials and the Law of Mortality
continuous eight-parameter survival function intended to model mortality in modern male populations
An extension of relational methods in mortality estimations
Actuaries and demographers have a long tradition of utilising collateral data to improve mortality estimates. Three main approaches have been used to accomplish the improvement- mortality laws, model life tables, and relational methods. The present pap
