Risk Vulnerability and Enrollment in a Prepaid Group Practice
An hypothesis that specifies conditions under which risk vulnerability factors are associated with enrollment in prepaid practices is presented and tested. We assert that such factors as illness histories and previous use of medical services are linearly and positively associated with enrollment when the prepaid option offers significantly lower marginal out-of-pocket costs. Use of Health Services by Baltimore Medicaid Recipients
Medicaid legislation intended to remove financial barriers to health care for the poor. A household interview survey of the Metropolitan Baltimore area in 1968-69 shows that persons on Medicaid are the highest users of health services. More Medicaid recipients in Baltimore visited a physician in two weeks and one year; more were admitted one or more times to a hospital. Economic Class and Use of Physician Services
Two assertions about the effects of economic class on use of physician services are tested. It was expected that the net price of services would be more highly related to use among the poor than among high income persons, and that noneconomic predisposing factors would be more highly related to preventive use than to all types of use combined. National trends in relationships between indicators of socioeconomic status and the use of outpatient physician services are described, and evidence for various explanations is examined. Studies show that relationships between income and use have diminished considerably over the post four decades. Race and education remain consistently related to use. Attitudes of Medical Interns Toward Patients and Health Professionals
The semantic differential technique was used to survey the medical interns of a large municipal hospital for their attitudes toward selected types of health professionals and selected types of patients. On the Evaluative, Activity and Potency Factors, the intern responses were more favorable toward the health professional group than toward the patient group. The interns displayed very little variation in the degree of positive attitudinal respons…

When considering the problems of the cross cultural applicability of mental health questionnaires, the influence of cultural factors on the results is of central importance. Data about the use of physicians' services, collected by means of surveys of the populations of Chester, England, Chittenden County, Vermont, and Smederevo, Yugoslavia, were analyzed by multivariate techniques.
