Devaluing Women’s Orgasm
Across three experimental studies using hypothetical scenarios, we investigated under what circumstances, and to what effect, women and men devalue women’s orgasm. In Studies 1 and 2, women reported their orgasm value in response to a hypothetical scenario that varied their imagined orgasm history and current orgasm frequency with a new partner (low vs. high). Does the shifting of visual attention serve as a self-regulatory strategy by people persist through effortful tasks to complete goals? Across six studies ( n = 1,590) focusing on running goals, runners increasingly narrowed and decreasingly widened attention over time as they neared a goal (Studies 1, 2, and 4). Four studies suggest distance is one tool that may enable people to forego temptation. In four studies, we explored perceptual representations of the gender-typicality of transgender individuals. In Studies 1a and 1b, participants ( N = 237) created an avatar based on an image of an individual who disclosed being transgender or did not. Objective: To use Internet search data to compare duration of compliance for various diets. This chapter uses two classic metaphors originally proposed within models of cognitive information processing and proposes a new one to describe ways that people process visual information. Remedying Education
This paper presents the results of two randomized experiments conducted in schools in urban India. A remedial education program hired young women to teach students lagging behind in basic literacy and numeracy skills. It increased average test scores of all children in treatment schools by 0.28 standard deviation, mostly due to large gains experienced by children at the bottom of the test-score distribution.
