The Diffusion and Reach of (Mis)Information on Facebook during the U.S. 2020 Election
Social media creates the possibility for rapid, viral spread of content, but how many posts actually reach millions? And is misinformation special in how it propagates? We answer these questions by analyzing the virality of and exposure to information on Facebook during the U.S. 2020 presidential election. We examine the diffusion trees of the approximately 1 B posts that were re-shared at least once by U.S.-based adults from July 1, 2020, to Feb…
Effects of Exposure to Indoor Fine Particulate Matter on Atopic Dermatitis in Children
This study aimed to investigate the short-term effect of exposure to indoor fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) on atopic dermatitis (AD) symptoms in children. Sixty-four children (40 boys and 24 girls) with moderate-to-severe AD, aged under 18 years were enrolled in the study. They were followed up from February 2019 through November 2020. Exposure to indoor PM 2.5 in each household of the enrolled children and their AD symptoms were measured dail…

Development of a Prediction Model for Demolition Waste Generation Using a Random Forest Algorithm Based on Small DataSets
Recently, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have been employed to predict construction and demolition (C&D) waste generation. However, most studies have used machine learning models with continuous data input variables, applying algorithms, such as artificial neural networks, adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems, support vector machines, linear regression analysis, decision trees, and genetic algorithms. Therefore, machine learning algo…
The politics of historical vision
This paper is about how the historical vision of Confucius was constructed in the Analects of Confucius. This analysis concentrates on its particular aspects like the notion of Zhou (1046–256 BCE) – the historical dynasty from which Confucius takes much of his guidance on culture, virtue, and refinement. The first part of this paper is to open up a space for a multidimensional and conceptually rich approach to what we might call Confucius’ ‘visio…
Methoxycinnamaldehyde from Cinnamomum cassia reduces rat myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury in vivo due to HO-1 induction
Isoimperatorin, cimiside E and 23-O-acetylshengmanol-3-xyloside from Cimicifugae Rhizome inhibit TNF-α-induced VCAM-1 expression in human endothelial cells
Anti-inflammatory action of methanol extract of Carthamus tinctorius involves in heme oxygenase-1 induction
Cosmogony as Political Philosophy
This essay examines the Diagram of the Supreme Ultimate and its shifting interpretations—those of Zhu Xi (1130–1200) and Wang Tingxiang (1474–1544) in particular—and by doing so explores the significance of ''cosmogony'' in the Confucian tradition and its significance for the change of political philosophy from the Song dynasty through the Ming. First, through a close reading of Zhu Xi's commentaries on the Diagram, it is argued that they should …

Rethinking the Self's Relation to the World in the Mid-Ming
By the early-sixteenth century in China, Neo-Confucian learning found itself in the midst of a major intellectual transformation, undergoing its most lively philosophical effervescence since its formative stage. For those interested in Chinese intellectual history and philosophy, the most important aspect of this transformation was the ascendancy of Wang Yangming (1472–1529). This focus on Wang Yangming is understandable, especially given the wid…
