  • Assessing nutrient inputs, sediment organic matter sources, and the potential for cyanobacteria in ancient water reservoirs at the Maya city of Ucanal, Guatemala

    Open Access•Jean D Tremblay, Peter Douglas et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2025•Citada por: 1•Referências: 10

  • Weaning among Colonists from Montreal and Environs

Eléa Gutierrez, Isabelle Ribot et al.•ARTICLE•Bioarchaeology International•2021

This paleochemical study explores the differences and similarities in weaning practices between two colonist populations buried in Montreal and its environs: the rural village cemetery of Pointe-aux-Trembles (PT, 1709–1843) and the urban Notre-Dame cemetery (ND, 1691–1796). Forty-six teeth (or individuals) were microsampled in both crown and root parts of the dentine (one to four and four to six sampling sites for deciduous and permanent teeth, r…

  • Impact of varying HCl concentrations on the δ15N values of human rib bones used for dietary reconstruction

Open Access•Jacinthe Vigeant, Eléa Gutierrez et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2021•Citada por: 1•Referências: 19

  • Dietary habits in N ew F rance during the 17th and 18th centuries

Open Access•Jacinthe Vigeant, Isabelle Ribot et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2017•Citada por: 2•Referências: 36

Objective Little attention has been given, so far, to the early colonial diet in New France from an isotopic perspective. Historical records that compare France to New France suggest a shift toward a more diverse diet, including a higher protein intake due to an improvement in living conditions in the New World, despite the retention of ancestral dietary habits. This hypothesis will be explored here. Materials and methods Stable carbon (organic a…

  • Sphagnum δ13C values as indicators of palaeohydrological changes in a peat bog

    Open Access•Julie Loisel, Michelle Garneau et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2009•Citada por: 4•Referências: 11

Late-Holocene peat stratigraphy of a Canadian boreal peat bog was examined to evaluate the potential of Sphagnum δ 13 C values as surface moisture proxy indicators. Isotopic measurements were compared to testate amoebae-inferred water-table depth reconstructions, plant macrofossil assemblages and past decomposition levels inferred by colorimetric humification. AMS radiocarbon dates were coupled with 210 Pb dates to establish peat chronology. Alth…
