The economic impact of Sargassum
This paper assesses the economic impact of pelagic Sargassum seaweed washed ashore in tourism-heavy coastal zones in the Mexican State of Quintana Roo. We use a geographic information systems (GIS) dataset of monthly observations from 2016 to 2019 for 157 beach segments. This paper examines whether computer-assisted instruction has a positive impact on the literacy and numeracy skills of early grade students. An educational intervention implemented in Zambia integrated technology into classroom activity in order to mitigate weaknesses in teaching skills and address specific unmet student needs.
