  • Signaling Games of Election Fraud

    Кирилл Калинин•ARTICLE•Russian Politics•2022•Citada por: 1

Over the 2000s Russian elections have become increasingly unfree and unfair, characterized by suppression of electoral competition, rising levels of administrative interference and drastic growth of electoral frauds. In this paper I propose that the pattern of fraudulent elections in Russia can be explained by combining an idea about federalism with a game-theoretic model of the relationship between the Kremlin and a single regional governor. Spe…

  • Neo-Eurasianism and the Russian elite

    Kirill Kalinin, Кирилл Калинин•ARTICLE•Post-Soviet Affairs•2019•Citada por: 8•Referências: 5

  • Linking Preference Falsification and Election Fraud in Electoral Autocracies

    Open Access•Kirill Kalinin, Кирилл Калинин•ARTICLE•Political Studies•2018•Citada por: 3•Referências: 38

This study sheds new light on whether responses to public opinion polls, namely, preference falsification, can affect the level of election fraud by employing Kuran’s model of preference falsification, which is empirically tested on the data collected from the most recent presidential campaign in Russia (2012). My research findings reveal the presence of a statistically significant effect of preference falsification on election fraud, thus enabli…

  • Presidentialism and legislative fragmentation

Open Access•Grigorii V Golosov, Kirill Kalinin et al.•ARTICLE•The British Journal of Politics…•2016•Citada por: 4•Referências: 35

Using data from a nearly comprehensive set of the world’s electoral democracies, 1992–2014, this article empirically evaluates the impact of presidentialism upon legislative fragmentation. The analysis demonstrates that the impact is strong, consistent across a wide variety of political contexts, and conditioned by the type of presidential regime, the scope of presidential powers, electoral system effects, and essential party system properties. W…
