We explored parent and peer social contexts as independent and joint predictors of adolescent self differentiation. High school students (N=101) completed self report measures on self differentiation, parental responsiveness, and social support from romantic partners. The Relationship Between Blood Sugar and Lymphocyte Levels in Normal and Psychotic Subjects
A study was made of the blood sugar and lymphocyte levels of 20 normal and 35 psychotic subjects (chiefly schizophrenic) following the ingestion of two doses of 50 Gm. of glucose at 30-minute intervals. It was found: a. In the normal subjects the blood lymphocytes and blood sugar levels varied inversely, the correlation being -.85 following the second dose of glucose. b. In the patients the correlation was much poorer, the coefficient being -.29.…
The Carbohydrate Tolerance of Mentally Disturbed Soldiers
The Exton-Rose glucose tolerance test was performed on 20 normal soldiers and 91 military patients discharged because of psychiatric disorders. The patients showed a higher incidence of abnormal sugar tolerances (70%) than the normal subjects (30%). Excessive secretion of adrenalin did not seem to be a major factor in the causation of such trends. Autonomic and Respiratory Responses of Schizophrenic and Normal Subjects to Changes of Intra-Pulmonary Atmosphere
The cardiovascular and respiratory reactions of 31 normal subjects and 29 schizophrenic patients have been studied in response to a thermal stress placed upon the organism by having them inspire oxygen in which the temperature was raised to 41° C. and the humidity to the saturation point.
