  • Who supports involved fatherhood? Structural and individual predictors across 26 countries

Open Access•Márton Medgyesi, F Albert et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Sociology•2026

  • Potential protective factors against negative interpersonal influence regarding Covid-19 vaccination - A cross-sectional study on Covid-19 vaccine discussion networks

Open Access•F Albert, Mercédesz Gerdán et al.•ARTICLE•Social Sciences & Humanities Open•2025

Illnesses or their threat are experienced in the context of people with whom we discuss health-related issues, who also influence vaccine related decisions. As people may talk about vaccination with others who are not vaccinated, it is important to explore the protective factors against negative interpersonal influence so as to decrease vaccine hesitancy and help achieve herd immunity . Self-reported survey data came from an observational, cross-…

  • Gendered educational disparities and in-home smoking and use of electronic tobacco/nicotine devices among cohabiting couples

Open Access•Zoltán Brys, Melinda Pénzes et al.•ARTICLE•Tobacco Control•2025

Allowing in-home smoking and in-home EDTNAD use is more prevalent in disadvantaged communities. The correlation between women's educational advantage (relative to their male partners) and in-home smoking suggests increased bargaining power to establish smoke-free homes. Our findings underscore the importance of gender-sensitive approaches in interventions aimed at promoting SAFH

  • The role of digital status in adult child–parent relationships in European comparative perspective

    Open Access•Bence Völgyi, Katalin Füzér et al.•ARTICLE•Families Relationships and…•2024•Citada por: 1•Referências: 5

The increasing significance of technology-mediated social interactions gives rise to optimistic expectations that digitalisation leads to various overwhelmingly positive outcomes in all walks of life. Our study relies on the European Social Survey 10th wave data (2020–22) to investigate the role of digital status in the relationship between adult children and parents in 30 countries. We found media multiplexity in adult child–parent relationships…

  • A Covid19 elleni védőoltás elutasítása együtt élő párok körében

A párkapcsolati szintű vakcinációs homogenitás mértékéről keveset tudunk, ahogy a védőoltás elutasításának párkapcsolati szintű epidemiológiájáról sem rendelkezünk adatokkal. Vizsgálatunk célkitűzése …

  • Reshaping Social Capital During the Pandemic Crisis

    Open Access•Beata David, Boglárka Herke et al.•ARTICLE•Social Inclusion•2023•Citada por: 1•Referências: 17

This article presents findings about the impact of the first Covid‐related lockdown on the face‐to‐face (FTF) interpersonal contact networks of the Hungarian adult population. Our primary objective is to understand how the size, composition, and quality of such networks have changed. We base our analysis on the contact‐diary method. Our data were collected from two representative surveys of the Hungarian adult population: one in 2015 (N = 372) an…

  • When Spatial Dimension Matters

    Open Access•Eva Huszti, F Albert et al.•ARTICLE•Social Inclusion•2021•Citada por: 2•Referências: 12

Living in segregated areas with concentrated neighbourhood poverty negatively affects the quality of life, including the availability of local jobs, access to services, and supportive social relationships. However, even with similar neighbourhood poverty levels, the degree and structure of spatial separation vary markedly between such areas. We expected that the level of spatial segregation aggravates the social exclusion of its inhabitants by ne…

  • The increasing importance of friends

    Open Access•F Albert, Julia Koltai et al.•ARTICLE•Social Networks•2021•Citada por: 3•Referências: 19

In order to detect changes in social connectivity, we examined evolutions in the personal network structure by analyzing over-time trends in the composition of the population’s core discussion networks on four cross-sectional, nationally representative surveys between 1997 and 2015, in the era of post-communism, in Hungary. There has been a very significant change; in fact, a reversal of trends regarding the composition of the core discussion net…

  • Egocentric Contact Networks of Older Adults

    F Albert, Beata David et al.•ARTICLE•Sociological Quarterly•2021•Citada por: 3•Referências: 42

This article analyzes how the theory of constraints, the socio-emotional and functional selectivity theories can explain the egocentric networks of older adults. The contact diary method is applied on a randomly chosen subsample of a nationally representative cross-sectional sample in Hungary enumerating all active ties and encounters with social contacts of 181 adults aged 50 and above. Age is negatively associated with network size, but it is p…

  • Association between poverty indicators and social relations

    F Albert, Gábor Hajdu•ARTICLE•Journal of Poverty and Social…•2020•Citada por: 3•Referências: 25

We analyse the association between poverty indicators and social relations using nationally representative data from Hungary. We focus on four poverty indicators (the three standard indicators of Eurostat and perceived financial problems) and a rich set of social relationship indicators (18 variables). Material deprivation is the most strongly linked to the measures of social ties and social integration, whereas income poverty is associated the l…

  • Mapping social milieus and cohesion patterns between 1997 and 2014. Exploiting the potential of the occupational position generator

  • Mapping the Post-communist Class Structure

Open Access•F Albert, Beata David et al.•ARTICLE•East European Politics and…•2017•Citada por: 5•Referências: 7

In this article, we define a schema for the class structure of Hungary, in which we consider a case for an Eastern-European capitalist system emerging from post-communist societies. Our schema is based on the findings of the Hungarian Class Survey, 2014. Using six measures of Bourdieusian economic, cultural, and social capital and applying the methodology of latent class analysis (LCA), we have constructed a model of eight LCA-based classes: uppe…
