  • Brain volumes as predictors of tDCS effects in primary progressive aphasia

Open Access•Vânia de Aguiar, Yi Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Brain and Language•2020

The current study aims to determine the brain areas critical for response to anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in PPA. Anodal tDCS and sham were administered over the left inferior frontal gyrus (IFG), combined with written naming/spelling therapy. Thirty people with PPA were included in this study, and assessed immediately, 2 weeks, and 2 months post-therapy. We identified anatomical areas whose volumes significantly predicte…

  • Classification of primary progressive aphasia and its variants

    Open Access•M L Gorno-Tempini, Maria‐Luisa Gorno‐Tempini et al.•ARTICLE•Neurology•2011

This article provides a classification of primary progressive aphasia (PPA) and its 3 main variants to improve the uniformity of case reporting and the reliability of research results. Criteria for the 3 variants of PPA--nonfluent/agrammatic, semantic, and logopenic--were developed by an international group of PPA investigators who convened on 3 occasions to operationalize earlier published clinical descriptions for PPA subtypes. Patients are fir…
