Width Identification and Spatiotemporal Change in the Landscape Ecotones in the Poyang Lake Sandy Land Based on an Advanced Remote Sensing Ecological Index
The landscape ecotones at the edge of Poyang Lake Sandy Land are of critical for ecological conservation and restoration, and the spatiotemporal evolution of their location and structure indicating regional sand advancement and retreat. However, rapid changes in regional surface landscapes and complex environmental disturbances have hindered dynamic and quantitative assessments of ecotone positions and widths. This study aimed to precisely identi…
Do Happier People Like Traveling More
This study argues that happy people spend more on products that promote happiness, such as travel. A positive cyclical relationship is documented between happiness and tourism. This association is particularly significant for economies featuring low levels of happiness and tourism consumption. The identified trend is verified using two-part models based on a large database assembled from four rounds of the China Household Finance Survey. The repl…
Does climate policy uncertainty affect carbon emissions in China? A novel dynamic ARDL simulation perspective
This study provides new insights into the impact of climate policy uncertainty, energy consumption, and economic development on China’s carbon emissions. In doing so, we develop a novel index of China’s climate policy uncertainty (CCPU). We then use the newly constructed dynamic autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) simulation model, the frequency-domain causality (FDC) test, and the fully modified OLS (FMOLS) estimation to investigate these pote…
Defining and measuring financial inclusion
This study re‐examines the construct of financial inclusion, through a literature review and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). First, we conduct a systematic review of definitions, measures and data sources. Second, we apply CFA to test two prominent financial inclusion indices. The CFA analysis reveals a high correlation between the ‘access’ and ‘use’ dimensions; hence, indices fail to capture the multidimensionality of financial inclusion. Ex…
