What does it take to silence the voices of, and for, a people enduring genocide? In this article, I find the answer in the wisdom of black feminist writings by Audre Lorde and bell hooks. This is an introduction to the Special Issue ‘Leadership and the Future of Humanity.’ We appraise the concept of leadership in the context of several major world crises, including the rise of populism, an increased number of conflicts, and the climate crisis. Harnessing Shared Identities to Mobilize Resilient Responses to the Covid‐19 Pandemic
Shared social identifications (family, community, nation, humanity) predict normative actions and psychological well‐being and can be invoked discursively by leaders to mobilize their followers. We illustrate the potential for harnessing shared identities to mobilize resilient public responses against COVID‐19.
