La prisión de mujeres de la Trinitat, en Barcelona, estuvo en funcionamiento entre 1963 y 1983, como cárcel de preventivas y cumplimiento de penas de corta duración. Open Access•César Lorenzo Rubio•ARTICLE•European History Quarterly•2024

By the early 1970s, political activists represented a minority of those incarcerated, although a minority that had grown steadily a…

Open Access•Helen Graham, César Lorenzo Rubio•ARTICLE•European History Quarterly•2024

This article analyzes Francoism through its prison system – from the mass incarcerations of the 1940s (deployed as an instrument of overt political repression) to the gaols of the 1960s developmentalist dictatorship, by which time the majority of prisoners were not activists but the ‘ballast’/‘excess’ of high-speed industrialization/urbanization undertaken without any welfare safety net. The article discusses how the dictatorship conceived of the…

    Open Access•Pau Casanellas, César Lorenzo Rubio•ARTICLE•Historia y Política Ideas…•2020•Citada por: 1

The united mobilization in support of victims of political reprisals is a virtually unstudied aspect of the fight against the Franco dictatorship, yet it is extremely important. This article aims to help fill that void. Amid markedly increased repression, the underground organizations and social movements of the opposition developed a cross-societal tool to help the victims and to speak out against their situation. The first examples were documen…
