Digital behaviour change intervention for weight loss maintenance in adults with obesity
Successful weight maintenance after weight loss is challenging. Digital interventions may facilitate behaviour change to prevent weight regain, however little is known about the acceptance and use of digital interventions in support of weight maintenance. This mixed methods study aims to evaluate user experiences, system use, and preliminary efficacy of eCHANGE, an application based self-management intervention for weight loss maintenance. A 3-mo…
Self-Efficacy Is Associated with Health Behaviors Related To Obesity and Cardiovascular Risk Among Hispanic/Latinx and Somali Immigrants To the United States
Self-efficacy theory proposes that confidence to engage in a health behavior is associated with engaging in that specific behavior. Most research examining self-efficacy has been conducted with white young adult populations. This cross-sectional analysis examined the association of self-efficacy (i.e., confidence) for healthy eating and physical activity in two immigrant communities. At enrollment into the Healthy Immigrant Community study, a cli…

Improving Resiliency in Healthcare Employees
These results support the premise that worksite programs designed to improve resiliency in healthcare employees have efficacy in improving resiliency, quality of life and health behaviors. Given the importance of stress and burnout in healthcare employees, future randomized studies are warranted to determine more clearly the impacts of this type of resiliency intervention for improving the wellness of healthcare workers

Out of Line
Out of Line
Building upon the groundbreaking work of Milman Parry and Albert Lord, Out of Line presents a new theory of Homeric composition, focusing upon patterns that extend beyond the boundary of the line and the clause. Matthew Clark takes enjambment as a starting point, analyzing the techniques used by the poet to complete a line that begins with a runover. Clark proceeds to propose two levels of analysis, a 'deep-structure' level, which describes the a…

Self-efficacy in weight management.
Self-efficacy is an important mediating mechanism in advancing understanding of the treatment of obesity. This study developed and validated the Weight Efficacy Life-Style Questionnaire (WEL), improving on previous studies by the use of clinical populations, cross-validation of the initial factor analysis, exploration of the best fitting theoretical model of self-efficacy, and examination of change in treatment. The resulting 20-item WEL consists…
Comparison of the Effectiveness of Subliminal Stimulation and Social Support on Anxiety Reduction
This study evaluated the effectiveness of psychodynamic subliminal stimulation, using the tachistiscopic presentation of the message, “MOMMY AND I ARE ONE“; in reducing anxiety and facilitating performance on a cognitive task. Psychodynamic subliminal stimulation (Silverman, 1976) was compared to an alternative, social support strategy, that involved verbal reassurance by the experimenter (Sarason, 1981). Twenty students (10 males, 10 females) id…
