To determine the placement outcomes of prenatally drug-exposed children two years after they had been placed in foster care, the authors analyzed data on 1,035 infants. These infants had been placed under Los Angeles Juvenile Court custody or under the supervision of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) before their mothers were discharged from the hospital.
