Open Access•Munawar Harun Koray, Sara Sulieman et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

Open Access•Yusha Tao, Rayner Kay Jin Tan et al.•ARTICLE•Health Promotion International•2024

Research on social innovations in health has increased in recent years. However, little training is geared toward enhancing social innovation research capacity. Most health training for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) is developed by individuals in high-income countries, disregarding LMIC researchers’ wisdom and insights and the communities’ needs. Our team organized a multi-phase investigation involving a series of surveys and co-creati…

  • Mechanisms explaining a pay-it-forward approach

Open Access•Margaret Byrne, Rayner Kay Jin Tan et al.•ARTICLE•SSM - Qualitative Research in…•2024

Pay-it-forward is when an individual receives a gift and is offered the opportunity to donate a gift to another person. This prosocial behavior has been used to develop health interventions, including strategies to increase sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing among men who have sex with men (MSM). Although pay-it-forward has improved service uptake across several settings, the underlying mechanism is unclear. This study aims to assess the …

Open Access•Mengmeng Wu, Fangzhao Ming et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Background In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, people living with HIV (PLWH) face more challenges. However, it is unclear if PLWH is more susceptible to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection than HIV-negative individuals. This study aimed to explore the prevalence of the SARS-CoV-2 infection and the associated risk factors among PLWH. Methods From 1 to 30 May 2020, we conducted a cross-sectional survey that e…

Open Access•Zhengyi Deng, Huanmiao Xun et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2015

Both typhoons and tropical storms could contribute to an increase in risk of bacillary dysentery and other infectious diarrhea in Zhejiang. Tropical cyclone precipitation may also be a risk factor for these diseases when it reaches or is above 25 mm and 50 mm, respectively. Public health preventive and intervention measures should consider the adverse health impacts from tropical cyclones
