  • A randomly swapped bootstrap for paired data

    Open Access•Wei Siang Wang, Wei-Siang Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Empirical Economics•2025

We consider tests of the hypothesis that two random variables $$X$$ X and $$Y$$ Y have the same distribution. Standard tests of this hypothesis, like the Kolmogorov–Smirnov two-sample test and the Baumgartner–Weiss–Schindler test, assume that $$X$$ X and $$Y$$ Y are independent, and we do not assume this. Instead we suppose that our sample consists of observations on pairs $${({x}_{i},{y}_{i})}_{i=1}^{n}$$ ( x i , y i ) i = 1 n , where we have ra…

  • A hierarchical panel data stochastic frontier model for the estimation of stochastic metafrontiers

Open Access•Christine Amsler, Yiyi Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Empirical Economics•2021

  • Evaluating the cdf of the Skew Normal distribution

Open Access•Christine Amsler, Alecos Papadopoulos et al.•ARTICLE•Empirical Economics•2021

  • Tests of Short Memory With Thick-Tailed Errors

Christine Amsler, Peter Schmidt•ARTICLE•Journal of Business and Economic…•2012

In this article, we consider the robustness to fat tails of four stationarity tests. We also consider their sensitivity to the number of lags used in long-run variance estimation, and the power of the tests. Lo's modified rescaled range (MR/S) test is not very robust. Choi's Lagrange multiplier (LM) test has excellent robustness properties but is not generally as powerful as the Kwiatkowski–Phillips–Schmidt–Shin (KPSS) test. As an analytical fram…
