A problem-solving education intervention in caregivers and patients during allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of problem-solving education on self-efficacy and distress in informal caregivers of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation patients. Women's Responses to Battering Over Time
A community volunteer sample of 98 battered women was interviewed using a combination of established instruments and in-depth questions over three points in time during a period of 31⁄2 years. An ANOVA change analysis approach was used, dividing the women into three approximately equal groups according to abuse status. Forced Sex and Intimate Partner Violence
A volunteer community sample of 159 primarily (77%) African American battered women were interviewed about forced sex by their partner (or ex-partner). Almost half (45.9%) of the sample had been sexually assaulted as well as physically abused. Except for ethnicity, there were no demographic differences between those who were forced into sex and those who were not, and there was no difference in history of child sexual abuse. Research on rape is handicapped by a paucity of accurate information on frequency of rape. The randomized response technique (RR), designed to produce reliable information in surveys of sensitive issues, is advocated as a means of uncovering true frequencies. Issues in the Use of Kappa to Estimate Reliability
Selected issues regarding the application of the kappa statistic in assessing the reliability of measures to classify patients are discussed. Data are used to illustrate how the methods used to estimate reliability can influence the resulting coefficient. Suggestions for a more comprehensive approach to the study of the psychometric properties of measures of patient classification are then offered
