    本稿は欧米の先行研究で議論されてきた食と階層・ジェンダーをめぐる問題を,日本の文脈から考察する.欧米諸国と日本の社会状況は異なるものの,家庭での料理時間が短くなりその工程も簡易化する一方で,母親たちが子どものために労力をかけて食事を用意する傾向がみられる.そこで本稿は,Haysが提唱したインテンシブ・マザリングを基にした,インテンシブ・フィーディングの概念を用いて考察を試みる.その際,欧米の先行研究と,筆者が実施した日本の母親を対象とした調査結果を比較し分析する.その結果,先行研究と比べて,本調査の母親たちは手作り規範の下で手料理を志向し,階層の観点からは欧米とは異なる傾向が示唆された.食と母親業の問題はこれまで主に欧米社会の文脈で研究されてきたが,ジェンダー不平等が根深い日本では母親への管理・監視がより強いことも推測される.今後,日本における研究を用いて理論的な貢献も可能であろう

  • Working Mothers and the Meaning of Paid Work

    本研究は,女性活躍推進の流れの中,未就学児を育てる非大卒女性の稼ぎ手役割・職業役割に注目し,研究の問いとして「育児期の非大卒女性はどのような生計維持分担意識を抱いているのか」「ジョブ/キャリアの観点から,どのように自分の職業を捉えているのか」を考察することを目的とする.調査方法にはインタビュー調査と参与観察を用いる.調査の結果,高卒女性には母親役割の延長として家計補助をする傾向がみられたが,専門学校卒女性の事例には同等の稼ぎ手であろうとする意識,またキャリアとして職業を捉える傾向が明らかになった.しかし先行研究の大卒女性と異なり,本研究の非大卒女性の場合,生計維持分担意識が高くキャリア志向でも,妻のキャリアや家事育児に対する夫のサポートが少ないことがわかった.階層とジェンダーの観点からは,育児期の男性・大卒女性と比べて,育児期の非大卒女性はキャリアへの従事,家庭責任の軽減が難しかった

  • How Do Working Mothers Engage in Children’s Education at Home

    本研究は,ぺアレントクラシー下での母親の教育責任の増大に注目し,働く母親の家庭教育をめぐる葛藤と家庭教育を通じた格差形成を明らかにする.この目的のため,就学前の子どもをもつ働く母親に半構造化インタビューを行い,彼女たちが家庭教育をどのように捉え,父親とどのように分担しているのかを階層視点から検討した.42名を対象とした分析から,「教育する家族」の子育てが,1父母協働志向の〈親が導く子育て〉,2母親に偏った〈親が導く子育て〉,3父母協働志向の〈子どもに任せる子育て〉,4母親に偏った〈子どもに任せる子育て〉に分化していることを示した.このモデルからは,子育て理念と父母のかかわりの違いが組み合わさることで,家庭教育を通じた大きな格差が就学前から生じている可能性が示唆された.また,働く母親の葛藤が,「親が導く」子育ての圧力と家庭教育への父親の関与の少なさによって生じていることも明らかになった
