  • Nascent agricultural extensification and distinct household cultivation strategies supported first population centers in Neolithic southeastern Europe

Late Neolithic settlements in southeastern Europe expanded to unprecedented sizes, potentially reshaping agricultural practices and household production strategies in response to increasing demographic and environmental constraints. On the Great Hungarian Plain, such population aggregation occurred within landscapes characterized by extensive wetlands and limited arable land, raising questions about how cultivation regimes were organized and whet…

  • Archaeological register of tell settlements in Hungary

Abram Anders, Alexandra Anders et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeologiai Értesítő•2010•Citada por: 1

This paper presents the results of a research project, which was launched in 1999 by the Institute of Archaeological Sciences of the ELTE. Our main goal was to create a register of Hungarian tell settlements. First we collected all available information on tell settlements from the archaeological literature and various museum archives. Following this preliminary data filtering, fifty of the initial 161 Neolithic sites and 116 of the 224 Bronze Ag…

  • Aszód

    Open Access•Nándor Kalicz•ARTICLE•Communicationes Archaeologicae…•2008

Die “A nwesenheit “ der Theiß-Kultur i…

A Dunántúl területe alig éri el a 40.000 km2-t, mégis az európai élelemtermelés kezdetén, vagyis a földművelő és állattartó életmód kialakulása idején, a Kr.e. 7. évezred végén, és a 6. évezred első felében, ez a vidék területét megsokszorozó jelentőségűvé vált

  • Re-Evaluation of the Neolithic in Eastern Hungary Based on Calibrated Radiocarbon Dates

Open Access•Ede Hertelendi, Nándor Kalicz et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1995•Citada por: 10•Referências: 12

The chief objective of this paper is to improve our understanding of the Neolithic in Eastern Hungary using absolute chronological data. To accomplish this we calibrated new measurements as well as previously published dates. The up-to-date, standardized evaluation of 261 calibrated measurements showed temporal overlaps between archaeological cultures defined on the basis of ceramic styles. The increasing number of dates suggest that the Neolithi…
