The physiopathology of osteoarthritis
The sample's high average age (65.8 years) and severe OA stage may hamper generalizability to archaeological collections
Pollen and charcoal studies at the Wolf Willow site, Wanuskewin Heritage Park, Saskatoon, Canada
The Graham Site
The intentional incineration of human skeletal materials is a rare type of mortuary behavior on the Northern Plains. The Graham site is a McKean Complex cremation burial located in south-central Saskatchewan. A description of this unique burial and the results of an osteological analysis of the skeletal materials are provided, as well as a comparative synthesis of Middle Plains Archaic period burial practices
Evidence for prehistoric cardiovascular disease of syphilitic origin on the Northern Plains
The identification of the treponemas among prehistoric Amerindian populations is problematic. This paper presents the evidence for the presence of cardiovascular disease of syphilitic origin on the Plains of North America during prehistoric times. Comparative data from modern populations is used to arrive at a diagnosis
