Leonard R DeRogatis, Anita H Clayton et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Sex Research•2010•Citada por: 2

Sex-related distress is integral to the diagnosis of hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). This article describes the results of three prospective, non-treatment validation studies (two North American and one European), each testing over 200 participants with HSDD, other types of female sexual dysfunction (FSD), or no FSD in which the 12-item Female Sexual Distress Scale(©) (FSDS(©)), the 13-item FSDS-Revised(©)(FSDS-R(©)), and a single quest…

  • The Female Sexual Distress Scale (FSDS)

Leonard R DeRogatis, Raymond Rosen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy•2002

Recent consensus-based characterizations of female sexual dysfunction have emphasized personal distress as an essential component of their definition. To assist researchers and clinicians, we developed a new scale, the Female Sexual Distress Scale, to measure sexually related personal distress in women. In this article, we describe the initial stages in the development and validation of this instrument. Three studies involving a total of approxim…

  • Report of the International Consensus Development Conference on Female Sexual Dysfunction

Open Access•Rosemary Basson, JENNIFER BERMAN et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Urology•2000

PURPOSE: Female sexual dysfunction is highly prevalent but not well defined or understood. We evaluated and revised existing definitions and classifications of female sexual dysfunction. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An interdisciplinary consensus conference panel consisting of 19 experts in female sexual dysfunction selected from 5 countries was convened by the Sexual Function Health Council of the American Foundation for Urologic Disease. A modified D…

  • The Brief Symptom Inventory

    Open Access•Leonard R DeRogatis, Nick Melisaratos•ARTICLE•Psychological Medicine•1983

Synopsis This is an introductory report for the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI), a brief psychological self-report symptom scale. The BSI was developed from its longer parent instrument, the SCL-90-R, and psychometric evaluation reveals it to be an acceptable short alternative to the complete scale. Both test-retest and internal consistency reliabilities are shown to be very good for the primary symptom dimensions of the BSI, and its correlations w…

  • The DSFI

Leonard R DeRogatis, Nick Melisaratos•ARTICLE•Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy•1979

The present report summarizes work to date on the Derogatis Sexual Functioning Inventory (DSFI), a multidimensional measure of human sexual functioning. We discuss the rationale for the test as well as the selection of the primary domains of measurement. Reliability coefficients for the various subtests are given, and a review section on validation studies is provided, including a factor analysis, predictive validation, and discriminant function …

  • The SCL-90 and the MMPI

Open Access•Leonard R DeRogatis, Karl Rickels et al.•ARTICLE•The British Journal of Psychiatry•1976

The present investigation was intended principally as a concurrent validation study for a new self-report symptom inventory: the SCL-90. A sample of 209 ‘symptomatic volunteers' served as subjects and were administered both the SCL-90 and the MMPI prior to participation in clinical therapeutic drug trials. The MMPI was scored for the Wiggins content scales and the Tryon cluster scales in addition to the standard clinical scales. Comparisons of th…

  • The Hopkins Symptom Checklist (HSCL)

    Open Access•Leonard R DeRogatis, Ronald S Lipman et al.•ARTICLE•Systems Research and Behavioral…•1974

This report describes the historical evolution, development, rationale and validation of the Hopkins Symptom Checklist (HSCL), a self-report symptom inventory. The HSCL is comprised of 58 items which are representative of the symptom configurations commonly observed among outpatients. It is scored on five underlying symptom dimensions—sommatization, obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, anxiety and depression—which have been identified…

  • An Empirical Comparison of Three Indices of Factorial Similarity

    Open Access•Leonard R DeRogatis, John C Serio et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1972

The need for an adequate methodological resolution to the factor-matching (invariance) problem—long recognized as critical by theoretically oriented factor analysts—is also being strongly felt by applied behavioral scientists today. As factor analysis has become more generally utilized in the behavioral sciences, the demand for a valid, general index of factorial similarity has grown proportionally. Recent research has resulted in a number of ana…
