An Inscription from Bavai and the Fifth-Century Christian Epigraphy of Britain
The consular dated memorial of a military accountant ( scrinarius ) of a.d. 404 with a chi-rho monogram from Bavai (France, Nord), previously thought to be a forgery, is reconsidered. Geographically close to Britain and well-dated, it is relevant to the origins of post-Roman insular epigraphy and to the possibility of recognising specifically Christian tombstones in Roman Britain. From Villa to Monastery
THE EXCAVATIONS at Llandough have revealed a large Early-medieval cemetery in close proximity to the site of a Roman villa and Early-medieval monastery. This paper examines the evidence for the re-use of villa sites for burial in the post-Roman period. The documentary evidence for the monastery at Llandough is also presented, and the site discussed within the context of the Early-medieval political geography of South Wales

Excavations at Hen Gastell, Briton Ferry, West Glamorgan, 1991–92
EXCAVATIONS on the summit of a prominent hill overlooking the river Neath revealed evidence for high status occupation from the 6th century to the 10th century, based on the finds of imported pottery and glass. A subsequent reoccupation in the later 12th century has also been identified
