Assessing Employment Discrimination Charges Filed by Individuals With Psychiatric Disabilities Under the Americans With Disabilities Act
This article presents findings from analyses of nationwide data on employment discrimination charges filed under the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). In conducting the analyses, emphasis was placed on understanding the extent to which the ADA charge process differentially affects individuals with psychiatric disabilities. This article presents an empirical approach which views mental health service systems as interorganizational networks. Data are reported on two county-based child mental health systems in North Carolina that participated in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Mental Health Services Program for Youth. This paper provides a description of the attitudes of rural leaders toward mental health issues using data collected in two rural counties (one in Virginia and one in North Carolina). Study participants (N=63) are individuals identified as leaders making a significant positive contribution to mental health issues in each county. Child Maltreatment and School Performance Declines
This article presents a longitudinal analysis of school performance declines among abused and neglected children. The analysis is based on the maltreatment and school histories of a large random sample of maltreated children from one North Carolina county. The analysis finds a significant relationship between maltreatment and declines in a diverse set of school outcomes, including falling grades, increasing absenteeism, worsening elementary schoo…
