Interdisciplinarity in Sustainability Studies
This article offers an exploratory and descriptive analysis of the characteristics of inter‐disciplinary sustainability studies (ISSs). The paper explores the academic and disciplinary nature of inter‐disciplinary inquiry and studies themes, imperatives and methodologies, together with institutional characteristics. The aim of this study was to test several hypotheses that clergy work-related satisfaction could be better explained by a multidimensional rather than a unidimensional model. A sample of 1071 male stipendiary parochial clergy in the Church of England completed the Clergy Role Inventory, together with the short-form Revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. The scales available for assessing meaning in life appear to be confounded with several related constructs, including purpose in life, satisfaction with life, and goal-directed behaviour. The Meaning in Life Index (MILI), a new instrument devised as a specific measure of meaning in life, was developed from responses to a pool of 22 items rated by a sample of 501 undergraduate students in Wales. The relationships of religiosity and personality with suicidal ideation
The prevalence of suicidal ideation (SI) has been studied among a sample of some 500 undergraduate students in the UK, and related to several behavioural and attitudinal religious variables and individual personality differences as measured by the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. SI was not significantly associated with age, but men appeared more likely to entertain suicidal thoughts than women. There were no significant differences in the mean…
