This article identifies, primarily in the context of relationships within a household in Indonesia, issues that expatriate women experience in cross-cultural settings in unequal power relationships. Three situations relating to work roles, marriage, and birth control, illustrate one U.S. woman's experiences and dilemmas in attempting to reinterpret her feminism in unequal relationships with women in a cross-cultural context
