The Pholela Health Centre
FOLLOWING the Report of the National Health Services Commission in 1944, the government decided to establish Health Centres in various parts of South Africa. . . . Medical Officers and other staff appointed to the various newly created Health Centres were first sent to Pholela to gain experience in Health Centre practice and to study the methods evolved there

The data consists of a catalogue of 414 riots from Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester (1800 to 1939). The riots were found using keyword searches of digital newspaper archives and the accounts presented there were triangulated against further archival material (including other newspapers, Home Office records and local police materials). The catalogue describes the basic narrative of the riot and includes codes representing the type of actions done…

Minimal explicit consensus criteria in the management of patients with four indicator conditions were established by an ad hoc committee of primary care physicians practicing in different locations. Communication, compliance, and concordance between physicians and patients with prescribed medications
Forty-six practicing physicians and 357 patients with diabetes mellitus or congestive heart failure were the subjects for this study, which focuses on the impact of medication regimen and doctor-patient communication in affecting patient medication-taking behavior and physician awareness of these behaviors. Four types of medication errors were defined: omissions, commissions, scheduling misconceptions and scheduling non-compliance. The average er…

Physician and practice characterisitics were reviewed in relation to the quality of the doctor-patient relationship in primary medical care. The 495 residents in a probability sample of 1G0 households in a low-income urban section of Raleigh, N. C. were interviewed to identify the determinants of physician utilization in response to illness. A discriminant function analysis was used with data on 231 persons who experienced 396 symptom-complexes.
