OBJECTIVE: To examine the association between registered nurse (RN) staffing and patient outcomes in acute care hospitals. STUDY SELECTION: Twenty-eight studies reported adjusted odds ratios of patient outcomes in categories of RN-to-patient ratio, and met inclusion criteria.
