Using Super-High Resolution Panoramas (Gigapans) to Document and Study Rock Art Panels
Panoramic photography began in the middle of the nineteenth century. Images were ‘stitched’ in the darkroom. The photo-documentation of Hunters Shelter, a small, obscure shelter high in the Guadalupe Mountains of New Mexico, led to a reexamination of the corpus of miniature, Late Archaic rock art known as the Red Linear style of the Lower Pecos River region of Texas, 400 km to the southeast.
