  • Assessing Lock-in Depth and Establishing a Late Holocene Paleomagnetic Secular Variation Record From the Mongolian Altai

Open Access•Marcel Bliedtner, Torsten Haberzettl et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2024•Referências: 49

Although paleomagnetic secular variations (PSV) often corroborate radiocarbon ( 14 C)-based lacustrine sediment chronologies, this is not the case at the high-altitude site Khar Nuur in the Mongolian Altai Mountains. Our results show that the inclination pattern resembles those from a regional reference record from Shireet Naiman Nuur and global geomagnetic field models very well, but with a constant offset of 730 ± 90 yr. Possible reservoir effe…

  • Fire and collapse

    Open Access•Ruth Shahack-Gro, Ron Shaar et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2018•Citada por: 7•Referências: 5

Historical events are sometimes expressed in destruction layers. We present here a study in which aspects of construction, destruction, and chronostratigraphy of fired mud bricks were explored using archaeomagnetism, infrared spectroscopy, and micromorphology. We measured 88 oriented samples mostly collected from one stratum, dated ca . 1000 B.C.E., representing a destroyed late Canaanite (late Iron Age I) city in Tel Megiddo, Israel. Firing temp…

  • Vegetation and environmental changes in Northern Anatolia between 134 and 119 ka recorded in Black Sea Sediments

    Open Access•Lyudmila Shumilovskikh, Lyudmila S Shumilovskikh et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2013

This multiproxy study on SE Black Sea sediments provides the first detailed reconstruction of vegetation and environmental history of Northern Anatolia between 134 and 119 ka. Here, the glacial–interglacial transition is characterized by several short-lived alternating cold and warm events preceding a meltwater pulse (~ 130.4–131.7 ka). The latter is reconstructed as a cold arid period correlated to Heinrich event 11. The initial warming is evide…

  • Late Glacial to mid-Holocene palaeoclimate development of Southern Greece inferred from the sediment sequence of Lake Stymphalia (NE-Peloponnese)

Christian Heymann, Oliver Nelle et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2013

  • Climatic change recorded in the sediments of the Chew Bahir basin, southern Ethiopia, during the last 45,000 years

Open Access•Verena Foerster, Annett Junginger et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2012

  • The Huguang maar lake—a high-resolution record of palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic changes over the last 78,000 years from South China

Open Access•Jens Mingram, Georg Schettler et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2004
