Edgeworth's taxation paradox when firms engage in cost‐reducing investment
This study examines whether and when Edgeworth's taxation paradox, that taxation decreases the equilibrium price, occurs in a free‐entry Cournot oligopoly with cost‐reducing investment. In contrast to the fact that no paradox occurs in the short‐run equilibrium, the paradox can occur in the long‐run equilibrium, in which the number of firms is endogenous. However, the conditions under which the paradox occurs are restrictive when there is no inve…
Weak monsoon event at 4.2 ka recorded in sediment from Lake Rara, Himalayas
Late Holocene environmental changes of coastal lagoon inferred from a fossil diatom analysis of sediment core from Lake Hamana, central Japan
The Holocene environmental changes in southern Indonesia reconstructed from highland caldera lake sediment in Bali Island
Environmental variability and human adaptation during the Lateglacial/Holocene transition in Japan with reference to pollen analysis of the SG4 core from Lake Suigetsu
AMS 14 C Dating of Varved Sediments from Lake Suigetsu, Central Japan and Atmospheric 14 C Change During the Late Pleistocene
We made accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) 14 C measurements on terrestrial macrofossils from the Late Pleistocene/Holocene of the annually laminated sediments of Lake Suigetsu (central Japan). The AMS 14 C dates of terrestrial macrofossils showed agreement between varve counting years and calibrated ages (tree rings and U/Th on coral) in the interval of 10.5 and ca. 11.5 ka cal bp. Beyond 11.5 ka cal bp, the age difference between 14 C and varv…
