Development of an Everyday Spatial Behavioral Questionnaire
The authors developed a 12-category, 116-item critical incident questionnaire of spatial behavior. The authors administered the Everyday Spatial Behavioral Questionnaire (ESBQ) to volunteer undergraduates (114 women, and 31 men) and tests of spatial ability to establish both the reliability and construct validity of the instrument. The authors found that Cronbach's alpha across the subscale scores was .92, and that 8 of the 12 subscales had alpha…
An Exploratory Study of Task Order in Computer Test Batteries
Two of four possible tasks requiring judgments of Same or Different and which previously were administered in a between-subjects design were presented in a balanced incomplete block design to 48 undergraduate women. The relative difficulty among the four tasks was similar; however, task orders, i.e., subjects being administered one RT task before or after another, produced dissimilar decision strategies by subjects for the four tasks. Results sug…

Individuation and Adult Children of Alcoholics
42 adult male and 99 female volunteers from the Washington and Baltimore areas were administered the Psychological Separation Inventory, the Personal Authority in the Family System Questionnaire, the Adult Child of Alcoholics Screening Test, the Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test, and the Symptom-Checklist-90--R in a study of variables associated with the development of psychopathology of adult children of alcoholics. Individuation evolving from …
A Study of Migrant Children
204 children (106 boys and 98 girls) attending a Federally sponsored summer program for migrant children were the participants. About equal numbers of boys and girls at each of six ages between 7 and 12 yr. were administered the Goodenough-Harris Test, a revised version of the Children's Embedded Figures Test, and Cattell's Culture-Fair Intelligence Test. Significant correlations were found for embedded figures with Draw-A-Person scores and age. …

Further Investigation of Components of Mathematical Ability
15 measures of cognition, personality, and attainment were given to 76 boys and 78 girls at age 12 and again at age 14. g/k factor remained relatively stable for high schoolers; spatial ability was associated with understanding of mathematics
Convergent and Discriminant Validities of Two Sets of Measures of Spatial Orientation and Visualization
Responses from high school sophomores to the Eliot-Price and the Guilford-Zimmerman tests of spatial orientation and visualization were evaluated in terms of the multitrait-multimethod matrix technique. The Eliot-Price tests were found to meet all criteria for convergent and discriminant validity. However, the Guilford-Zimmerman tests did not meet one of the criteria for discriminant validity. The Eliot-Price tests appeared to be more nearly prec…
