A meta-analysis of school-based mental health interventions
Perceived Comfort and Safety of Self and Students Predicting One’s Wish to Leave Education
Introduction The introduction of “Don’t Say Gay” (DSG) bills has led to increased discomfort and decreased feelings of safety and support from administration and public among K-12 educators. As career longevity for K-12 educators depends primarily on comfort, safety, and support, the introduction and sustainment of DSG bills poses a threat to the K-12 education landscape by increasing the likelihood of current educators leaving the field. Mapping the Pipeline of Intervention Evidence in Education
This study examines the pipeline of evidence for educational interventions, focusing on Institute of Education Sciences-funded research and What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) reviews. Using data from 376 efficacy-focused awards, it tracks evidence progression from grant funding to WWC-reviewed publications. The WWC has played a vital role in synthesizing and disseminating evidence, although challenges remain in expediting the review process. Key reco…
What’s the goal here? Educators’ perspectives on Iowa’s Senate File 496 on school mental health systems
Iowa's Senate File 496 requires parent permission to formally survey students about their mental health, bans the discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation in schools before seventh grade, mandates schools obtain parental permission to use a nickname, and bans any books that depict or describe sex acts in schools. This instrumental case study examines how educators and school board members (n = 21) perceived the law’s influence on scho…
Academic Motherhood

Of concern, women with children are less likely than men with children or individuals without children to be offered tenure-track positions or to be promoted. This reality suggests academic motherhood is in opposition to professional legitimacy in higher education. Furthermore, postd…
Analyzing funding patterns in science education research
Cognitive outcomes were studied more often than STEM participation outcomes. • Just under half of the studies used student demographics in the analyses. • Just under half of the studies used comparison groups to estimate impact
Intersectional identities and career progression in retail
Contributing to scholarship on diversity and inclusion (D&I) and careers within UK retailing, this paper documents the lived experiences of minority‐ethnic women working in retail. Given the extensive research on both the career obstacles faced by women in a highly feminized sector and the disadvantages experienced by minority‐ethnic workers in the UK labor market more broadly, consideration of social identity categories beyond gender and their i…
