Effects of Visual-Spatial Added Cues on Fourth-Graders' Melodic Discrimination
A videotaped music-listening test was developed in which 30 brief melodies were paired with visual-spatial representations through vertical and horizontal hand motions across a chalkboard. Subjects were asked whether the second playing of each melody was the same as or different from the first. Elementary Student Attending Behavior as a Function of Classroom Activities
This study investigated the extent to which attending behavior (on-task participation) of students in elementary music classes is a function of the activities in which students engage. On-task behavior also was examined for possible relationships with teachers and curriculum. Developing and Using Videotapes to Teach Rehearsal Techniques and Principles
This report describes a project in which a series of videotapes that demonstrate the principles of teaching employed in a rehearsal setting of junior high school, senior high school, and college choral organizations were developed. The tapes were produced as teaching aids for music education classes to help prospective music teachers understand the relationship among teacher, learner, and subject in the music classroom. Effect of Contingent Music Listening on Increases of Mathematical Responses
The use of reinforcement principles to expedite learning has been the focus of increasing educational interest as evidenced by a growing number of behavioral texts, research reports, and institutional programs.
