The eastern part of the Subcarpathian loess region (the Rzeszów Foothills and the Lower San Valley) may now be referred to as the southeasternmost zone of the occurrence of the long barrow cemeteries of the Funnel Beaker culture. In recent times, new intriguing mounds have been discovered in Pawłosiów forest through the utilisation of LiDAR data sources. In order to investigate whether these structures are long barrows built by “beakers” communit…

    Open Access•D Król, Iwona Sobkowiak-Tabaka et al.•ARTICLE•Sprawozdania Archeologiczne•2024•Referências: 13

Until now, the question of the Eneolithic settlement of the Funnel Beaker Culture in the 4th millennium BC in the area of the Przemyśl Foothills (Western Carpathians, SE Poland) has not been studied in detail. This was due to the relatively limited state of the sources, which were mainly collected during field surveys. These investigations resulted in the discovery of a relevant settlement in Jasienica Sufczyńska Site 5. The various artefacts col…

  • Late Tripolye Culture Settlement Spatial Pattering

    Małgorzata Rybicka, D Król et al.•ARTICLE•Praehistorische Zeitschrift•2023

The Gordineşti II-Stînca goală is an archaeological site located in the northern part of the Moldavian Plateau in Edineț Region. Chronologically this settlement is linked to the later phase of the Tripolye Culture. Currently, in archaeological literature, the problems of human occupation, land management, and spatial arrangement of settlements in Moldova during the Eneolithic are highly understudied. In this paper, we present the results of recen…

  • A Spatial Pattern(S) of the Eneolithic Multi-Phase Settlement of Brînzeni IV (North-Western Moldova) from the Perspective of Non-Invasive Geophysical Surveys

    Open Access•Ghenadie Sîrbu, D Król et al.•ARTICLE•Baltic-Pontic Studies•2020

Non-invasive geophysical methods are often very useful and efficient in the investigation of various archaeological sites. Using one of the most popular of them, i.e. magnetometry, we carried out a survey of the area of the multi-phase Eneolithic site of Brînzeni IV (north-western Moldova) in 2019. As a result, the spatial arrangement of the site and its current state of preservation were preliminarily identified

  • New Radiocarbon Dates for Stage Cii Tripolye Culture, Northern Moldova

Open Access•Małgorzata Rybicka, Ghenadie Sîrbu et al.•ARTICLE•Baltic-Pontic Studies•2020

According to Tamara Movscha, vessels from the Funnel Beaker culture settlement in Zhvanets can be synchronized with the period of existence of the settlements in Zimno, Leżnica and Gródek. Based on the currently available radiocarbon dates, we can say that the long-term settlements in Gródek and Zimno existed from around 3650 BC. The older phase of the settlement in Gródek is dated to 3650-3400 BC, while the younger ones to 3400-3100 BC. The firs…

  • The Late Eneolithic Groups from the Dniester-Prut Interfluve

    Open Access•Ghenadie Sîrbu, D Król et al.•ARTICLE•Baltic-Pontic Studies•2020

In this article we would like to point out some issues related to a series of ceramic materials found in sites attributed to the Late Enolithic groups of Brînzeni and Gordinești in the Dniester-Prut interfluve. In terms of technology and stylistics in the case of pottery from the Brînzeni type sites and stylistics in the case of pottery from the Gordinești type sites, we can see some analogies in the cultural environment of the central European a…

In recent years, numerous sites of the Eneolithic Funnel Beaker culture (FBC) have been identified in the Rzeszw Foothills (south-eastern Poland). Among them, a large settlement in Skooszw 16 seems to be particularly significant due to its internal characteristics. In order to determine its extent, spatial arrangement and chronology, an interdisciplinary investigation (including excavations and a noninvasive geophysical survey) was carried out in…

In the autumn of 2016 a geomagnetic survey was conducted in Skołoszów, site. 7, Dist Jarosław. The magnetic prospection took place on a low hill spanning 2.12 ha in total. Distribution of the anomalies, as visible on a map depicting obtained data, reflects numerous structures related to human activity in the area during the prehistory and historic times. Among them are two features interpreted as residues of funerary rituals taking place at the s…
