  • Smart cities with big data

    Open Access•Chiehyeon Lim, Kwang-Jae Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Cities•2018•Citada por: 28•Referências: 71

Cities worldwide are attempting to transform themselves into smart cities. Recent cases and studies show that a key factor in this transformation is the use of urban big data from stakeholders and physical objects in cities. However, the knowledge and framework for data use for smart cities remain relatively unknown. This paper reports findings from an analysis of various use cases of big data in cities worldwide and the authors' four projects wi…

  • Actor engagement as a microfoundation for value co-creation

Open Access•Kaj Storbacka, Roderick J Brodie et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Business Research•2016

  • Mainstreaming Modeling and Simulation to Accelerate Public Health Innovation

    Paul P Maglio, Martin-J Sepulveda et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2014•Citada por: 3•Referências: 28

Dynamic modeling and simulation are systems science tools that examine behaviors and outcomes resulting from interactions among multiple system components over time. Although there are excellent examples of their application, they have not been adopted as mainstream tools in population health planning and policymaking. Impediments to their use include the legacy and ease of use of statistical approaches that produce estimates with confidence inte…

  • On Distinguishing Epistemic from Pragmatic Action

    Open Access•David Kirsh, Paul P Maglio et al.•ARTICLE•Cognitive Science•1994

We present data and argument to show that in Tetris—a real‐time, interactive video game—certain cognitive and perceptual problems are more quickly, easily, and reliably solved by performing actions in the world than by performing computational actions in the head alone. We have found that some of the translations and rotations made by players of this video game are best understood as actions that use the world to improve cognition. These actions …
