Analysis of sleep duration, energy intakes, physical activity, and metabolic syndrome based on the presence or absence of obesity and hypertension in working Korean adults
Background Metabolic syndrome poses a serious public health concern among working adults, especially in the context of increasing rates of obesity and hypertension. These lifestyle-related conditions are intricately linked to sleep patterns, dietary behaviors, and physical activity. Objective This study aimed to examine how sleep duration, energy intake, and physical activity levels—key lifestyle factors—are associated with metabolic syndrome bas…
Selective High School Admissions Policies in Court
Purpose: Over the past 5 years, courts increasingly have considered cases involving the design and effects of selective high school admissions policies. Visitors' perceptions of the Bibongsan Restoration Project (BRP), carried out since 2015, w…
Sugary snack restriction enhances body composition improvement in overweight women engaging in non-face-to-face walking during Covid-19
Introduction This study assesses the impact of dietary modification, specifically sugary snack restriction, in conjunction with a brisk walking program on overweight management in young overweight women, with a focus on changes in body composition and glucose metabolism. Method An 8-week randomized controlled trial was conducted amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, utilizing a remote intervention approach to comply with health guidelines and ensure part…
Physical activity levels and energy intake according to the presence of metabolic syndrome among single-household elderly in Korea
Background: Exercise and dietary and nutritional intake affect the risk and prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in elderly people, effects that may differ according to sex in elderly single households (ESH). This study aimed to analyze the differences in physical activity (PA) levels and energy intake according to sex and prevalence of MetS among elderly people in Korea to investigate the relationships between these factors. Methods: Data fro…
How can we estimate carbon emissions and reduction of buildings at the local government level in South Korea
Background and objective: Carbon neutrality must be achieved across societal sectors through carbon neutral policies. Therefore, local governments, which realize the actual greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction, must develop GHG reduction strategies. This study aims to present information on the GHG reduction of the building sector (BS) at the local government level, for the carbon neutrality by 2050 (CN).Methods: The gross floor area (GFA) of all build…
Household-specific physical activity levels and energy intakes according to the presence of metabolic syndrome in Korean young adults
We found significant association among low PA levels, high energy intake, and MetS components in young Korean adults, but with patterns differing according to household type. Energy intake was higher in young adults with than those without MetS, who lived in multi-person households, while young adults with MetS who lived alone had lower PA levels and lower energy intake than those without MetS. These findings highlight the need for different appr…
Effects of private education fever on tenure and occupancy choices in Seoul, South Korea
The influence of small green space type and structure at the street level on urban heat island mitigation
A Study on Recognition and Demands of Forest Interpretation Programs
The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition and demands of forest interpretation programs. Questionnaire survey was carried out to estimate the awareness, necessity, future participation intent, experience, satisfaction and demands of forest interpretation programs with 100 residents living in Jinju city or Gyeongnam region. The data were subject to frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and path analysis. Overall 63% of respo…
Changes in Frequency of Use and Satisfaction of Visitors on Urban Forest as Recreational Resources - Focused on Seonhaksan and Bibongsan Mountains, Jinju City, Korea
This study was conducted to investigate the changes in the frequency of use, users' behaviour and satisfaction of Seonhaksan and Bibongsan mountains near city center improved through the park and green spaces projects implemented by Jinju City Hall from 2004 to 2016. The number of visitors per day was measured by observation surveys in 2004 and 2016. The users' behaviour and satisfaction were measured by questionnaires in 2004 and 2017. The colle…

And the survey consist of the questions of socioeconomic background on its nominal scale and the questions of cultural value, problem, solutions, maintenance methods and main body to…
Effects of Walking Speed and Step Frequency on Estimation of Physical Activity Using Accelerometers
This study evaluated the accuracy of assessing step counts and energy costs under walking conditions altered by step frequency changes at given speeds using uni- (LC) and tri-axial accelerometers (AM, ASP). Healthy young men and women (n=18) volunteered as subjects. Nine tests were designed to manipulate three step frequencies, low (-15% of normal), normal, and high (+15%), at each walking speed (55, 75, and 95 m/min). A facemask connected to a D…
