Preventing diarrhoea
Oral rehydration therapy (ORT) has become the cornerstone of most programmes of diarrhoea control, and is highly effective in preventing death from dehydration caused by acute watery episodes of diarrhoea. The effectiveness of ORT in reducing mortality from chronic or dysenteric diarrhoeas is believed to be low and, in addition, ORT can be expected to have little or no impact on diarrhoea morbidity rates. Crawford investigated a length of bank and ditch in Kincladie Wood near Dunning, in Perthshire, he observed that 'the possibility that it might be a fragment of a Roman camp cannot be excluded' (1948, 59). Kincladie Wood is 2 km. from the hill at Duncrub, a locality that has been equated philologically with the early historical Dorsum Crup (Watson, 1926, 56). Dragonesque Fibulae
Since the publication of Mr. William Bulmer's paper in 1938 ( Antiq. Journ. xviii, 146 f.) several dragonesque fibulae have been found and others—mentioned, but not illustrated, in earlier publications—have been re-located. In figs. 2 to 8 below, the numbers given by Mr. Bulmer to the forty-six fibulae described in his paper are retained; of these, eight were not then illustrated (C5, 18 to 24). A naval shore radar station in north-west Iceland
In 1941 the Admiralty decided to construct a radar station to overlook Denmark Strait off the north-west coast of Iceland. The site finally selected was on the top of the promontory between Aðalvik and Ísafjarðardjúp at approximately 1600 ft. (480 m.) above sea-level.
